In January, Simon Bird from the 1st Braughing Scout Group represented the UK at the 3rd International Gathering for Scouting & Humanitarian Action. He was one of 147 Scouts representing 96 countries at the event in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
A Young Leader, Simon Bird, 18, from Albury who visited islands devastated by the 2004 Asian tsunami and a young person, Gary Edwards, 19, who rebuilt a local Scout Band have both been nominated for a Young People of the Year award.
During the Bank holiday, at end of May, many young people attended a Centenary camp - celebrating 100 years of Scouting. Some 200,000 Scouts across the country were under canvas making it one of the UK's biggest camps.
